Times change and so do the toys (and hairdos)!

It always amazes me when I look back at old photos and see how much time changes everything from hairstyles to the toys that our children want. These days it seems kids love all the new tech gadgets but in 1983 my daughter loved her Cabbage Patch doll. Remember those?

When I was writing NELL. I rented a cottage in Nantucket (which I know you all love) with my two children and wrote a novel about a divorced woman with two children and her path to a new life. I found so much of myself in this story (not totally autobiographical but my life inspired much of it).

So this week I’m taking you on a journey for Throwback Thursday to 1983!

Our cottage, “A Whale of a Tale” in Nantucket! Is that a perfect name or what?

Charley and me in our cottage. Yes, I have naturally curly hair! I told you hairstyles change a lot!

Sam (and Cabbage Patch Doll), me, and Josh having climbed the 92 steps to the top of the Congregational Church.  What a view!  And still, naturally curly hair.

The original NELL cover! Still gives me a thrill to see this even today.

The American paperback version.  So romantic. I’ll be posting some of the foreign covers on Facebook this week.

Newest cover for NELL for everyone on their e-readers!

I hope you enjoyed this journey down memory lane with me. There’s more to come!

 XO

Nancy
