WHEN I CAN’T SLEEP AT NIGHT
 	By Nancy Thayer

When I can’t sleep at night,
I wonder if the robin in her nest
Also has insomnia
And worries that
There won’t be enough worms
Or that her mate is checking out
That cute little chickadee next tree.
I hope that when she tucks her head
Under the curve of her soft
Downy feathers,
She falls asleep at once
And dreams of me.
And in her dreams
I am sleeping, too.
What do you love? (and I’m not the oldest person on Nantucket.)
