Celebrating the Everyday Joys (and Little Surprises) That Bring Us Together

The author of 38 novels, Nancy Thayer has spent nearly four decades finding warmth, humor, and connection in the simple moments that make life extraordinary. A longtime Nantucket resident, she fills her world and her writing with family, friendship, and the occasional serendipitous twist that reminds us to laugh, love, and look around.

Her novels have appeared on the New York Times best-seller lists, in RedbookGood Housekeeping and Cosmo UK, and are translated into many languages.

Welcome to Christmas in July!

This photo was taken very early in the 80s after I married Charley and we bought our old house on Orange Street. It was two blocks away from my exceedingly proper mother-in-law, Martha. I had painted the dining room red by myself and this was probably the first time we used it. Martha was coming and she liked formality and I wanted to please her. My friend Jill made me the apron and I always loved wearing it.
